Where to Windsurf in North Texas
While most people think of Texas as being dry, there are many places
to windsurf, especially in North Texas. A surprising number of lakes
exist around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and they are all man-made.
Most lakes have more than one launch you pick depends on the wind direction. Side shore launch is usually
Lake Grapevine - Lake View Park
Lake Lewisville - Hobie Point
Lake Ray Roberts - Johnson Branch Park
Lake Lavon - Ticky Creek (Make sure its open before you make the drive)
Lake Ray Hubbard - Windsurf Bay , Terry Park, Barnes Bridge Park
Benbrook Lake - Holiday and Mustang Park
Lake Texoma - Our favorite launch is no longer avalible to public.
Lake Whitney - Launch depends on wind direction
North Lake is closed to sailing these days. It used to be a nice place to sail in the winter
because the water is warmed from the power plant.
White Rock Lake: Windsurfing is not allowed - Say what! Thats right. But sailboats , kayaks, paddle boards
and pretty much everything else except swimming is allowed
Lake Mountain Creek - Unknown
Joe Pool Lake - Cedar Creek State Park possibly
